Artificial intelligence (AI) is the science that deals with creating an artifact that exhibits some form of intelligence. AI is often explained as something that a computer cannot do yet.
The turing test is a widely accepted test for AI. It states that if a computer can fool someone into believing that it is a human, then the computer must be intelligent.
Artificial Intelligence and Passport Photos
Facial recognition and AI are becoming more commonplace. Biometric systems scan biometric data and store it in a database. Later, the stored data is matched with new data, which works well for identifying people.
The problem with facial recognition is that your face can easily be captured without your consent. This is in contrast to a fingerprint or an iris scan, for which you must cooperate and give permission.
When municipalities create databases of passport photos, they can easily link them to other data. For example, security cameras, speed cameras, or atms. They can identify you without your consent and without you being aware of it.
