Eyelashes are the hairs that grow on the eyelids.
They are relatively thick, stiff hairs that are present in a row on both the upper and lower eyelids. They are longer and thicker on the upper eyelid.
Functions of Eyelashes
Eyelashes have two main functions:
- Protection: Keeping dirt out of the eyes. The eyelashes automatically close with a quick reflex upon contact to protect the eyes.
- Beauty: Eyelashes are important for first impressions. Many women therefore use makeup on their eyelashes or wear false eyelashes.
Rules for Eyelashes on Passport Photos
The passport photo requirements do not mention eyelashes. The most important thing is that you look similar to your usual appearance on the passport photo.
So, if you often wear mascara on your eyelashes, wear it on your passport photo as well. This way, you will be recognizable when you have to show your identification. It is also advisable to wear the same makeup when you apply for your travel document, so that the municipal official can recognize you properly and accept the photo.
